elephant, smiles, and boats

you may not know, some of you do :), but heidi is seemingly part elephant. she is always squealing and grunting. she sounds like a little elephant :) it was really unsettling to me at first, and i must say that i'm not totally comfortable with it, especially when she does it at night and i can't see her to make sure she is ok (short of getting out of bed to look at her. which i've done, but i try really hard not to because it does seem a bit extreme since she has done this since she was out of the womb and nothing has happened to her yet :) ). my best guess is that she is doing it to keep herself from spitting up? either that or she is a baby elephant.

since we were in the hospital she has been smiling in her sleep, but i think it was last week (the days really run together) she started to smile at us. she smiled at eric first and the only one for a bit. i think we've all gotten in a little bit on the love though lately. fun to see her little person starting to show thru.

a couple of days ago i was reading/singing a book to boden. it is a book that takes different kid songs and changes the words but keeps the tune. i have read it a lot to kids at school. they all really like it. as i was reading/singing it, i was thinking that this book was really over boden's head. the humor in it was more mature than him (seems like 2nd grade they start to really get it) and he doesn't know enough of the tunes, let alone the ability to hear the tune to different words. well, he proved me wrong on one count. i finished one of the songs and was about to turn the page to the next when, when he says, "like row, row your boat mom." all matter of fact. maybe i don't give him enough credit or know what kids his age are capable of, but i was truely shocked! he was right! the tune was 'row, row your boat!' i told him how smart he was and what good ears he had and we sang it again as well as the original 'row, row your boat.'

We're all hoping he's musical!!
You sometimes hear hymns sung to different words. I always have a time trying to think of the original song!!! He's smarter than his Amma.
