fake fingernails

heidi is all girl. she is always asking me to paint her nails and put fingernail decals on her. below are some pics of her hello kitty fingernails she got for her bday. she LOVED them. unfortunately, they weren't able to last an entire evening....we are an active three people!

two bits - jobs

1. a couple weeks ago, boden asked me if everyone has to have two jobs like me. a little confused, i asked what two jobs do i have? he said a teacher and singing (at church). guess i must spend a near equal amount of time with both and being a mommy doesn't count :)

2. boden has been learning about dinosaurs at school. this afternoon after reading together a very lengthy book from the school library about dinosaurs and looking up a couple videos on youtube about excavating dinosaurs bones, boden excitedly declared that that is what he wants to do when he grows up now. in case you've missed the progression: work at koops - farmer - paleontologist.

this is from a couple months ago, but i just happened upon a 'phone dump' of pics that i've done nothing with. eric is MUCH better at blogging these days than me. anyway, this was all boden's idea. he came home one day from toddlerville with the idea in his head that he was going to make a book. the initial creation was all himself. i didn't even see it till it had a cover and a couple pages. i helped him with a couple words (spelling) and an idea or two on how to draw the picture. i was personally pretty shocked he came up with this and did it all on his own. not something i've worked with or talked to him about doing. he pumped it out all in about a half hour.

Beatrix

Last night, while at The Farm, Grammy read Boden some Beatrix Potter
stories (Peter Rabbit, etc). This morning Boden stated that the
stories were "awesome". So, I downloaded a collection of Potter
stories and read one to the kids. Then Boden decided he wanted to
read on his own. So he read "The Tale of Bad Mice" by himself (there
are no pictures on this copy). Part way through I interrupted him to
get ready for church. He then went back to it and finished it.

The kids loved being able to see Uncle Robbie and Aunt Carolyn this weekend.

Naked

I was waking Heidi up this morning and the first thing out of her
mouth is about how someone is not wearing clothes. The first few times
she said it, it was unintelligible. Then she got it out the Adam and
Eve are naked and they need to wear clothes like us.

Mr Carp

The cousins are enjoying story time with Grammy while we are at Great
Wolf Lodge.

Shopping

Heidi helped me shop for pants (yes, I am replacing the famous torn
pants) tonight. We had lots of fun and did lots of different things:

1. Heidi road up front in the truck for the first time. She was SOOO excited.
2. Of course, while we were at Old Navy Heidi had to go poop. So we
stashed my pants in a dressing room and shut the door. After our
complimentary fondling of the public restroom we returned to our
dressing room to find it locked (obviously I do not shop much because
I think that is SOP on dressing room doors). But, never fear, one of
us is teeny tiny and can fit in small
places. So Heidi crawled under the door and opened it from the
inside. Both of us were pretty proud of her.
3. After shopping at the dreaded Old Navy we rewarded ourselves with
ice cream at Dairy Queen.

We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and Heidi asked if we could do it
again Friday.
