heidi stats

one day after heidi's bday, we had her 2 year well visit. i don't think i have ever gotten so close to the actual date for any of the kids' well visits. makes me feel good as, if you know me, that gives us stats that are about as near to the base line and accurate as possible. so, without further adieu:

weight: 23 pds - 8th percentile
height: 34.5 inches - 70th percentile
head circumference: 47.5 cm - 55th percentile

immediate comment from the nurse? wow, looks like she is going to take after her daddy - skinny and tall! we were actually a little surprised as we feel like she has been eating and growing like crazy since her last appointment. thought she would weigh a lot more. dr doesn't seem concerned though as she has been pretty steady in height and weight since she was born.

our dr says that a better predictor of height is that the kids will end up btw the heights of the parents in the end. that isn't really the case in either of our families. the other old predictor, not as accurate, is double the height at 2 years. that puts heidi at about 5 foot 9 inches i believe. of course, i was supposed to be 5 foot 2 inches, and we all know that didn't happen ;) still, love the thought that she most likely will be taller than me.

other tidbits. heidi still has some excema (sp?) as well as a seemingly chronic cough at night the last two winters. dr says, it could point to indoor allergies. though, we are still hoping it is just a string of winter colds. otherwise, she checked out just great. she was pretty shy and stubborn at the dr. DID NOT want to take her cloths off, or the dress shoes that she insisted on wearing that day. lots of tears were shed. she had a great big smile and wave goodbye for the dr as he left though......

eric and i have both noticed, really hard not too, that she is getting increasingly more difficult. outwardly defiant, very particular about what she wears (2 years old!), etc. starting on her bday sunday, we've had to wrestle her into her pjs every night. does she just want to be naked? well, sometimes during the day, but at bedtime, she just wants to put on other day cloths and goes to the drawer and starts pulling things out and scattering them across the room. one afternoon, eric let her sleep with her new black dress shoes on (seems particularly attached to them). on the other hand, she is beautifully stunning and sweet. her smile lights up the room. she makes everyone feel uniquely special. she is very responsive to discipline and you can tell she is remorseful. she tells us when she needs a diaper change. i'm waiting for her to potty train herself. hopefully soon! she loves books, babies, shoes, bags, coloring, and her big brother boden. we really hope this bond we see btw them continues through adult hood. we love our sweet little 2 year old heidi!

boden always brings home a daily report from preschool that tells what the goal and objectives for the day were, lunch and how he ate, nap time, and additional notes for the day. below is the note that boden brought home yesterday:

"He is such a good boy. He thinks about his decisions and works really hard to make good choices. His paper work needs some help but he reads very well! I love having him in the class."

interesting note on heidi. this afternoon, we were sitting together on the couch. she was laying her back up against me and i was patting her stomach. not sure how long this was going on before i noticed it, but suddenly i realized, she was moving her legs up and down in sync with my patting. for you music friends out there. i was patting quarter notes and she was moving her legs to half notes. not bad for a 22 month old! i have kids in 5th grade that can't do that! :)

Boden and Heidi went on a little adventure today. We started by stopping at auntie Liz and uncle Mike's house. They got to see the boys and the dogs. Then it was off to arby's where the kids at a few french fries. After that we went to the farm. While there we picked soybeans and corn. Heidi ate corn like it was candy. Boden topped it off with a nice dump by the corn.

i know i am SO jinxing myself by posting this, but..... i just can't hold back!

we had a babysitter tonight. heidi told her she had to go poop. boden helped find the froggy trainer potty and HEIDI PEED IN THE POTTY for the BABYSITTER!!!

this is about the 3rd time she's peed in the potty over the last little bit. all the times on her own suggestion. i'm starting to think that i need to pay more attention when she tells me she has to poop! all along, i have been hoping she would train herself....... holding my breathe, holding my breathe......................................

he wrote daddy before I hardly finished the other post. he did mommy
as well, but I had to help him quite a bit with the m's, so I didn't
put a pic on of that. also of note, he wrote it all with his left
hand.....

spelling

boden spends one week with his amma and she taught him how to spell
his name! boden told me he had a big surprise to show me! it
certainly was! have tried to work a little with him writing but with
me, he just wants to spell on the computer for me.

We went to the ottawa county fair the other day. The kids really enjoyed the animals. Boden even had some slight interest in the rides (at least looking at them) Maybe next year we will be able to get him on.
