copy and paste:

i copied and pasted this message i just wrote lynae on facebook. when i finished writing it, i thought you all might like to hear about it too, but i'm to lazy i guess to write it all again...

so, you remember that mobile you got for boden? the one that he ripped down about as soon as he could stand in his crib? well, we have always left the music part in the crib because he likes to turn it on after he wakes up. a few days ago i took it downstairs to put new batteries in again (i have lost count of the times that i have changed them. either we don't have very good batteries or that kid is playing that thing constantly!). anyway, eric put new batteries in and he just carried in around with him for awhile. when it was time for his nap, eric tried to put it back on his crib but he thru a fit, so eric just let him hold it and he fell asleep clutching the thing like a stuffed animal. he brought it downstairs with him again, and periodically gets the thing and walks around the house with it playing, or sets it next to him while he plays with something else.... thought you'd get a kick out of it :)

bits and pieces

i have been meaning to post for a while and have been trying to save up all these little tidbits to share, but we'll have to see how many i remember.... i'll start with some pictures (again, remember our new system we are trying out- we will post the latest and greatest of our sweet boden john, but for those of you that is not enough, you can check on the right link under photos and we will dump much more for your viewing pleasure. :) )

many of you know that boden has hit a new phase where our old schedule is just not cutting it! he needs more stimulation, or mommy is just too boring, or something unknown to us was making him (and in turn mommy and daddy) not very happy. so, my mission this past month has been to try and remedy, or at least make better, that problem. though i can't say it is 100%, i can say that we are having much more sane days as we reach into february.

one of the things that we have done is to start walking in the mall. we used to take walks at home all the time when the weather was nice, but alas, those days are but a memory. a couple ladies in our small group suggested walking in the mall. what a novel idea! :) i must start trying to think outside the box. well, those of you that have seen our stroller, know it is huge and not something i want to take in the mall. i tried his umbrella stroller, which he has never liked, but for some reason i thought maybe it would be different this time.... wrong!!! between, this endeavor and others i have tried as of late, i have spent much time in public with a screaming boden with many gawkers looking on.... those of you that know me, know that this is probably good for me... anyway, back to the walking! determined to try and make this, something, anything work, i thought of using the backpack we had used to do some hiking this summer. of course, eric or uncle robbie, or papa, or uncle mike, or any one but me got to haul him around. so, with boden now being over half my height, we decided to see if we could make that work :) and besides some extra effort on my part, it has worked out splendidly! so super that auntie liz, boden, and i have decided to make our little walks in the mall a weekly outing together :) sometimes we get comments and looks as this is not normally seen i'm guessing? and boden, after he has talked almost non-stop for about five mins about babies and rides and who knows what else, bobs his way off to sleep (often times hitting our heads together... :) ). here we are trying the pack out for the first time.

lately boden loves for daddy to turn him upside down! one of the cutest things about it (for me at least), is that if i am not watching he calls out to me so that i can see him. such a show off already!!!

most of the time boden still eats in his high chair, but some how he weaseled his way into getting the whole box of crackers by daddy on the computer this time. he was so proud and excited about this change in events!

this past weekend auntie liz and uncle mike were over. boden had just started saying 'mike' a few days before while looking at pictures of uncle mike. so, it was super exciting (for both of them :) ) to have 'mi' here in the person! and for those of you that know boden, even a little bit, know that he is absolutely crazy about balls, and uncle mike is a semi-professional juggler. so, you can imagine boden's glee and wonder when uncle mike started throwing them around in an amazing fashion!!!

he had a lot of fun playing with the big ball with auntie liz too! she was really good at dribbling!

of course, there are some other little tidbits i'd like to share, but i have already written the beginnings of a book... so, to save us all, i will try again to store up the little bits and pieces i so know you want to know :) and leave it for another time....

dropping the kids off at the pool

well, bode didn't exactly drop a couple kids off at the pool. he dropped a whole classroom full in the bathtub. bode is making us quite proficient at cleaning up poop from different places. the tub is the latest we can add to our repertoire.

tabasco

i love tabasco!

red eye...

...oh, i mean pink eye... at least that is what eric keeps mistakenly calling it :)

boden got sent home at the end of the day yesterday with pink eye. managed to get some drops yet from the doctor. we have to put them in 3 times a day for 7 days! yikes!!! the first time last night was less than pleasant. eric held him down and i tried to pry his eyes open to put the drops in. not totally sure i did, though he did cling and cry to us (mainly eric-looked very betrayed at me) quite a while afterward. i think his vision might have been blurred as that was a side effect??? fun fun fun, off to do another round.....

check up

boden had his 18 month check up this week. tried to write about it earlier, but the blogger was down....

stats:
-weight: 26 pds 11 oz (60th percentile)
-height: 33 inches (75th percentile)
-head circumference: i think 50 cm??? and for the life of me i can't read the percentile marking the nurse wrote. doesn't even look like a number. maybe it is a code that his head is off the charts??? :)

so he has been holding pretty steady with the weight (btw 50-60 % since he was born), but the height has been higher. for whatever reason, it is hard for me to see it dip slightly (it has been 80-90 % since he was born). of course, he was writhing around like a wild animal as the nurse and eric tried to hold him down to get the measurement... eric thinks i'm silly. i guess i am.

if you remember, last time was quite the surprise and traumatic trip to the doctor as boden absolutely spazzed out. i guess it is the norm for this age. anyway, this time i came armed with favorite toys, books, and snacks. he still carried on (at times it was hard to even hear the doctor tell us things) and fought pretty hard (when the doctor was checking his legs full on with boden laying on his back, he kicked the doctor pretty hard a couple times. the doctor seemed sorta of surprised and laughed a little). not sure if this time was better or worse than last time. didn't seem to bother me as much though. so, maybe it wasn't as bad as last time, or i'm just getting used to boden's siren screaming. :)

we did talk to the doctor about the screaming he has been doing. which he said that all kids go thru the screaming and tantrum stage and there isn't really much we can do about it but ignore it and not give in to him and he assured us it will sometime stop.... he also said that we could start giving him short time outs for about 30 seconds at a time now if we want to. we told him we were already doing timeouts at 2 mins a crack....

overall, he checked out really well. he was doing all the things the doctor asked about (word count, throwing and kicking balls, ect.) we told him that he eats a ton of cheese or broccoli straight sometimes and then hardly nothing at all and has become quite the picky eater when it comes to trying new things (very different from when he was a baby). he said that his weight is holding just fine and we shouldn't worry.

no shots, and i think we actually don't have any until 4 or so??? can't quite remember. and we don't go back, barring sickness :), until his second birthday!!! wow! it goes so quickly!!!!!
